Why is our data important online?

So from the question "Why is our data important online?"  is the same as the question "Why is my belongings important". Data is similar to your stuff, such as phones, wallets, identification cards, or anything else you own. When you lose one of your valuables, such as your phone or wallet, you experience sorrow, you don't know what to do, and it eventually leads to tension. The internet is the same as our real life environment; the only difference is that the internet is the so-called "other world," and data is our stuff in that world. Some people do not value their data on the internet, and others are concerned about their online credentials.

In the online age, your data information is the only personal thing you possess; if it is viewed or taken by someone, just a simple right click of your photo, they can use it to hide themselves, with your face serving as their face. They can do crimes online with you as their identity in which it would be a problem for you once they're get caught. So you might want to ask "why is it important to protect our data?". Data protection is critical because it protects an individual's information against crimes actions such as hacking, phishing, and identity theft. As a fellow online citizen, always be cautious with your data; it is our sole personal possession that we should take care of. Be cautious of where we go online, because going to unfamiliar areas online might threaten not only our data but also our lives and the lives of others around us.
